Gallery Opening: Friday April 4th 6-8pm
Gallery Viewing: Saturdays 2-5pm
This April, nine galleries across the Comox Valley are coming together to celebrate the beauty and power of water through Waterways: The Comox Valley Gallery Hop. Each gallery will present a unique water-themed exhibition, offering visitors an opportunity to experience a diverse range of artistic interpretations.
The goal of Waterways is to encourage both locals and visitors to explore the incredible art spaces in the Comox Valley. Many residents have never visited these galleries or have only been to one or two. This event is a chance to discover the unique character of each gallery, connect with local artists, and find original artwork—often at very affordable prices. All galleries are offering free admission, so visitors can enjoy the diverse exhibitions without any cost. It's the perfect opportunity to explore the vibrant local art scene!
Participating galleries include Artful: The Gallery, ARTWRX Studio + Gallery, Comox Valley Art Gallery, I-Hos Gallery, Pearl Ellis Gallery, Studio 211, The Gallery @ Weird Church, The Worthy Room, and YQQ + CVA Arts and Culture. Visitors are encouraged to explore them all, enjoying a variety of art forms and perspectives from talented local artists.
To make the experience even more engaging, guests can collect stamps on a Waterways stamp card as they visit each gallery. Once their tour is complete, they can fill out their information and drop the card off at any participating gallery to be entered to win a wide array of incredible art prizes generously donated by local artists—the more galleries they visit, the more chances they have to win!
Exhibitions will run throughout April, with individual galleries hosting their own opening receptions and events. For details on each gallery’s show, hours, and reception dates, visit pearlellisgallery.ca/waterways.
Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate local art and the natural beauty of water—mark your calendar and start planning your gallery hop!
Join us for a showing of Life Aquatic!
Renowned oceanographer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) has sworn vengeance upon the rare shark that devoured a member of his crew. In addition to his regular team, he is joined on his boat by Ned (Owen Wilson), a man who believes Zissou to be his father, and Jane (Cate Blanchett), a journalist pregnant by a married man. They travel the sea, all too often running into pirates and, perhaps more traumatically, various figures from Zissou's past, including his estranged wife, Eleanor (Anjelica Huston).
Doors open at 6:30, entrance by donation (Bring cash for popcorn and snacks).
Movie starts at 7pm
Please reach out if you would like to volunteer!

As a Cycling Without Age program launches in Cumberland, come and enjoy this beautiful film about getting outside, no matter where one is on life’s journey. It follows John, a retired teacher, and his merry group of volunteers as they use pedal-powered rickshaws to give adventure and joy to those who have lost the ability to pedal themselves.
A little bit about Cycling Without Age; it is an accessible cycling program that started in Copenhagen in 2012 which has grown internationally, beginning in Canada in 2016. The program in Cumberland will offer free community rides with a volunteer 'Pilot' on a pedal-assisted trishaw bike to seniors and their families, and those with impaired mobility. Our goal is to promote social connection and wellness through the simple act of a bike ride.

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”
When a loved one dies, we experience grief. It is not something we choose. Yet it is a part of life. It can be confusing, painful, full of conflicting emotions, and lonely.
We offer a safe, confidential space where grief can be processed, experiences shared, community fostered, and isolation reduced.
When: Monday evenings for 6 sessions (April 28, May 5, May 12, May 26, June 2 and June 9)
Time: 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Where: Weird Church Cumberland
Who: Anyone experiencing grief due to the loss of a loved one. This confidential group will be limited to 10 participants - please register below.
What: Grief brings up an array of emotions that can be overwhelming, confusing, uncomfortable and unexpected. Together we will hold space for the unruly beast we call grief, understanding one another in ways that only other grieving folks can.
How: Each week we will follow the same basic structure
Check In
Grounding Exercise
Short Teaching: each week a new facet of grief will be explored, making space and honouring the experience of each individual, helping folks better understand their grief journey.
Sharing Together
Gratitude and Closing
There is no cost to participate in this community offering of connection, community, & support.
Still have questions? Please email Carole Moore at carole@carolemoore.ca or Julie Lad at julielad@telus.net

Part walking meditation, part spiritual practice, full immersion in the forest. Join us as we seek to find connection with the Divine while breathing in reciprocity with the trees. Our journey will begin at No 1 Japanese town Historical Park. There will be times of guided breathing, space for prompted personal reflection and wondering, opportunities for letting go, and, of course, gratitude.
Together we will open ourselves to the wisdom of the woods and cultivate an awareness of gratitude.
Come with an attitude of experimentation, playfulness, and a readiness to connect. (weather appropriate attire is also very handy!). This experience does include some terrain that might be difficult for those with mobility issues. If you would like a recorded meditation, please contact Ingrid.
No preparation, no expectations, no pressure. All are welcome.

What Do We Do At Imagine Children’s Retreat?
Imagine Children's Retreat is a sleep over camp that begins around 4pm on Friday, and comes to a close around 11am on Sunday. Here's how our retreat schedule usually flows:
FRIDAY... Children will meet at their scheduled chartered bus stop (as selected when registering) or be driven by their Parent/ Guardian to our retreat. Children will greet their small group leaders, get settled into their cabins, and have dinner together. After our meal, we gather as a whole group to sing, play games, hear about the retreat theme and weekend schedule, share in evening worship, and enjoy a snack before heading to bed!
SATURDAY... We will have times of worship, singing, storytelling as a whole group, and small group times of workshops (like games and craft activities) and chill out. Our whole group evening campfire is a well-loved Imagine Children’s Retreat experience! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are served throughout the day, with time for chatting over meals.
SUNDAY... After breakfast, we sing and worship together, and say farewell to each other and the amazing community we created together! Children will receive a morning snack before being picked up around 11am by their Parent/Guardian or at their scheduled charted bus stop, if registered as travelling by chartered bus.
Please note this is a rough overview based on past years, and schedules will vary by location!
Sunday service at 4pm, potluck at 5:30pm - everyone is welcome to join in on this community meal where all are welcome and everyone can belong and be fed.

Join us for a showing of David Lynch: The Art Life!
The Art Life is a wonderful open window into the life, day-dreams, world and art of David Lynch. David Lynch was a beautiful man and artist who touched the lives of so many other beautiful people in the world with his paintings, his films, his kindness, good humor and love of making art. His work was a meaningful dance between light and dark, pure love and wickedness. His films were surreal, sinister, visually compelling and dreamlike. His life long dedication to art for art sake was inspirational and moving. He was beloved by so many of us humans.
David Lynch died on January 16th 2025, just a few days before his 79th birthday. Please join us in celebrating his life in attending this screening.

Join us for a showing of “Where the Olive Trees Weep”
Discover poignant stories from the occupied West Bank, in this Palestine documentary shedding light on intergenerational pain and resilience.
Doors open at 6:30, entrance by donation (Bring cash for popcorn and snacks).
Movie starts at 7pm
From the filmmakers:
The film gives background to the current crisis in Israel/Palestine and brings to light the lives of people we met on our 2022 journey in the occupied West Bank. Their universally human stories speak of intergenerational pain, trauma and resilience. We hope they touch your heart, stir compassion and understanding, and give rise to a pursuit for justice. For without justice, peace remains an empty slogan.
Cinema can be a powerful force for change. Our aim is, beyond mere education, to truly move hearts and minds and inspire audiences to echo the calls for freedom, equality and dignity that have gone unanswered for far too long.
The film is our modest contribution towards our dream for an end to the occupation in Palestine, the attainment of equal rights and fair treatment for Palestinian people, and the spreading of healing for all intergenerational cycles of trauma in the region.
Proceeds from the film will go to projects supporting the population of the occupied territories, rebuilding Gaza, working towards human rights and bringing trauma healing work to the region through SAND (Science and Non Duality).
Please reach out if you would like to volunteer!
Leave your phones at home or in the baskets by the door and come and hang out! There will be tea available during this afternoon of hanging out. Bring along your craft projects to work on, a book to read, a friend you want to visit with, or your favourite board game. This will be a completely screen free time for human connection or simply side by side existing.

Albert Einstein famously said, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.”

This Sunday will be a little different (are all Sundays a little different?) as we are led through a practice of embodied awe. The service will start all together, and after a few minutes the children will be invited to move downstairs to learn about meditation with their teacher.
The service will then be turned over to guest Joanna Finch who describes the service as follows:
Welcome to experience Embodied Awe, a sound bath concert focusing on transformations through nature inspired music with Mama ‘Sikai: Brent Rintoul on percussion and handpan. Cameron Ezzy on bass and gong. Joanna Finch vocals, flute, crystal bowls and harp. Listening with eyes open or closed, with movement or stillness or sounding, we encourage everyone to notice the sensory impact of our music and feel free to integrate the sensations in whatever ways feel most authentic to you.
*please note: the online service will NOT be available for this Sunday, please visit https://www.youtube.com/@weirdchurch for a special pre-recorded meditation*
