Albert Einstein famously said, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.”
This Sunday will be a little different (are all Sundays a little different?) as we are led through a practice of embodied awe. The service will start all together, and after a few minutes the children will be invited to move downstairs to learn about meditation with their teacher.
The service will then be turned over to guest Joanna Finch who describes the service as follows:
Welcome to experience Embodied Awe, a sound bath concert focusing on transformations through nature inspired music with Mama ‘Sikai: Brent Rintoul on percussion and handpan. Cameron Ezzy on bass and gong. Joanna Finch vocals, flute, crystal bowls and harp. Listening with eyes open or closed, with movement or stillness or sounding, we encourage everyone to notice the sensory impact of our music and feel free to integrate the sensations in whatever ways feel most authentic to you.
*please note: the online service will NOT be available for this Sunday, please visit https://www.youtube.com/@weirdchurch for a special pre-recorded meditation*
Weekly services: Sundays at 4 pm (they can be accessed online HERE - Zoom ID 810 1877 0234).
Our services are like church…but weird. Following monthly themes, we come together for about an hour for prayer, music, readings, reflection, and a time of discussion. There are no requirements or barriers to participating in Weird Church and all are truly welcome regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status etc.
Children and Youth are celebrated and welcomed (with all the wiggles and noise and love they bring along with them) - programming will be available for those who would prefer thematic learning targeted toward a younger age range (roughly 6-12 but all are welcome).
