Villagers Sacred Solstice December 21, 2022
Everyone in the community is welcome to join together in welcoming back the light into the darkest of days. This gathering aims to celebrate the changing of seasons and the beauty of this time of year shared across spiritual and secular traditions. We come together for this fully inclusive time with the intention of sharing healing, love, and peace, recognizing our place on stolen ancestral land.
This year’s event is in two parts:
4pm-530pm @ No. 6 Mine Park
All are invited to gather at 4pm in the park for a welcome circle and a time of sharing songs relating to solstice and light. We will then be led with music into the forest to encounter stations relating to Fire, Air, Earth and Water. Once we have all gathered back in the park we will close with more songs around the circle.
7pm-9pm @ Weird Church
Doors open at 7pm for a gentle time with an ambient sound bath and stations for quiet reflection, welcoming all to the tenderness of the night. At 7:30pm a concert with classical and medieval inspiration will ensue, ending with dancing and sparklers in the street.
Tickets are available starting December 1 at CCAS https://ccas.tickit.ca/ on a sliding scale of $10-30; $5-10 for children under 16. Any funds beyond the cost of the event will support the work in the community offered by the CCAS, CCFS, and Weird Church.
If you want to support the work of these amazing non-profits, please give generously at https://www.cumberlandforest.com/ https://www.weirdchurchcumberland.com/ https://www.cumberlandcultureandarts.com/ .
Want to volunteer?
We are looking for mystical forest creatures for each of the stations, as well as event hosts at the church for the concert and extra hands for set up and clean up. Volunteers will be celebrated and adored, and fed a simple supper of soup between events at the church. Please email
