Tuesday June 9th 10 am & 6:30 pm @ No. 6 Mine Park
“Catch me Daddy!” a young child wails as they jump from a tree into their father’s arms, fully assured of his ability to protect them from a painful fall. “Mommy I’m hungry!” calls the youngster from their play, confident that a meal will appear and they will be satisfied. Children embody trust – it is a special kind of trust, instinctual and dependent. Unfortunately, by adulthood, many of us come to thinking of trust as something to be earned – a response to another’s good behaviour, a sufficient proof of worth or reliability. This impacts our spiritual life. Children – when introduced to the idea of God as loving and generous – the One on whom we can depend – can accept that without some of the reservations adults may bring. How often have we heard of people losing their faith in God because they are missing the trappings of what society calls a good life, or wait for things in their lives to get better before believing in Love.
Fill your mug, grab a camping chair, and head for the park! We are meeting in person (but at appropriate distance) to be together and discuss what it means to trust in a loving power greater than ourselves.
All undestandings of faith, religion, and spirituality welcome for this open-minded exploration.
